Message from Alayne: Moving Forward

Spring has sprung! Some days it feels nice and warm and sunny, like a day to get the garden going. Other days the ol’ North Wind is blowing and it’s hard to psych yourself up to ride and do horse chores.

But all-in-all, life is much sunnier and more positive than a year ago. We have so much to be thankful for with vaccines available to basically every adult in the United States—and for free. The economy seems to be bursting at the seams with everyone eager to move forward and get out. I’m very thankful for what we have.

While we do all need to get vaccinated and get back to some kind of normalcy, please continue to heed the CDC’s advice:

  • Remain distanced from others. It is an easy thing to do (especially on a horse property) to keep yourself and others safe.

  • Choose outdoor activities (vs. indoors), like outdoor cafes or events.

  • Wear a mask when indoors or closer than 6 feet to others.

If we want to keep this thing in the rear-view mirror, these are the guidelines we need to stick to. Science gains a better understanding of COVID-9 all the time, and as new data arrives, the CDC will adjust guidelines.

In the meantime, we horse people are lucky to have our horses and be able to enjoy the great outdoors. This month, we have some great ideas for how to do so!

For example, check out our HCW virtual farm tour at 1pm PT on Sunday, May 16. It’s easy attend and will feed you LOTS of great ideas for your place. And who knows? Maybe YOU will want to host a farm tour someday, too!

HCW also has several new tip sheets to help you with springtime cleanup and enjoying time with your horses, including:

As always, I’m available for consultations. Let me know if I can be of assistance!

And last—but certainly not least—we’re excited to announce that we have another Cowgirl Retreat tentatively scheduled for August 26 to 29, 2021! Mark your calendars and watch for more details coming soon!

Namaste!
