It’s that time of year again when we try to peek around the corner, wondering what lies ahead weather-wise and how we’re going to fare through the winter. The cold, dark months of this season are often the most challenging time of the year for horse folks. Take time now to review the resources that Horses for Clean Water offers, many of which are specifically designed to help ease you though the demanding winter months and allow you and your horse to enjoy each other more fully.
We have a couple of online courses coming up in December intended to help horse owners with issues common in winter horse keeping: confining your horse and dealing with the resulting mud and drainage issues. Confinement areas need to be mud-proofed, not only for horse heath and chore efficiency, but also for environmental integrity. Plus, there are many new scientific and practiced techniques which provide positive stimulation for a horse’s physical and emotional well-being. Join us to improve winter life for both you and your horse!
Horses for Clean Water also has low-cost tip sheets on a wide variety of topics, from how to build a mounting block or a round pen, using natural pest control, implementing mud and manure management, or planning a ride in Bryce Canyon National Park. We have lots of fun and educational information available!
Horses for Clean Water also provides personalized consultations. I can work with you one-on-one to help you find solutions for your horse keeping and land management challenges, specific to your individual needs and circumstances!
In this season of national thanksgiving, let’s each take a moment to pause and reflect on what we horse people have to be thankful for. Horses have given us so much during this pandemic: they give us an oasis where we can escape the craziness of the everyday world; the means to get outside and enjoy fresh air; a purpose for exercising and doing hard, physical work; easy, natural social distancing from others; and positive reminders to stay connected with the natural world around us.
I also want to say thank you to you, my audience, for being such an important part of my life. I am grateful for the opportunity to share and commune with you, and I look forward to much more in the future!
